The previously announced dev-team jailbreak, which was due out tomorrow, may be put on hold while the team works on revising their tools for the limera1n exploit rather than exposing multiple exploits that will quickly be patched.
Jailbreaking, while legal, is based on finding system weaknesses to allow hobbyists to inject code that will open their devices to full system read-write access. It is this full access that allows third party developers to customize the OS and install new applications and extensions.
Having looked forward to developing for Apple TV starting tomorrow, count me among the disappointed.

ReplyDeleteI just purchased a 3gs running 4.1 and was planning on Jailbreaking it and using it with my T-mobile Sim card.
I watched several Youtube videos and one of them said that jailbraking with limera1n would only work if it had a valid sim card.
Explain to me if I just purchased an expensive touch, or if we can find a way to make it work on t-mobile network?
I plan on backing up my ipod touch that moving it to this iphone 3gs. Should I do that first and the jailbreak. What are my options?

ReplyDeleteI ran everything on your last video(How To Jailbreak 4.1 iPhone 4/3Gs iPod Touch 4th/3rd Gen and iPad 3.2.2 - Limera1n For Windows/Mac) and it seems to have worked fine.
As a newbee, i'm not really sure what i got.
Is it now jailbroken?
Is it unlocked?
Can i put in a foreign sim card?

I am sorry, but I have been reading all that I can regarding unlocking the iPhone 3g, iOS 4.1 -- but, I I am still confused. I bought a 2nd hand jail-broken/unlocked iPhone 3g. It was working real well with my SIM (I am in Rio de Janeiro), but then, when I went to my iTunes (I have an iMac) it asked if I want to upgrade to iOS 4.1, and being an illiterate in these matters, I said okay. Of course, as you know, that was a big mistake. Now, I can't even use my iPhone for anything.
Can you tell me exactly what I need to do, to have it working again using my SIM here in Rio.

I don't have an AT&T SIM -- what I have is a local SIM here in Rio de Janeiro. I can't get beyond the first window on my iPhone 3g iOS 4.1. It is either saying that "I do not have a SIM card installed" or if I insert a local SIM card, it says that "The SIM card inserted is not a supported SIM card."
hello dino...i live in Santa Maria city (Brazil). Last week i buy an iphone4 with IOS4.1 installed so i update to 4.2.1. I had never heard of jailbreak before that so i download a torrent with various .ipa programs and i see your videos on youtube.

I hope you can help me. I am US citizen living in Angola and I have followed everything in the ultrasn0w package that I was to do but my 3G & 3GS both say "searching" in the carrier area. I have done everything and I think it must be the baseband. The phone is just not unlocking.

ReplyDeleteI bought an iphone that was on AT&T off the internet. I called AT&T and they told me that the phone is uneligible to be unlocked by them. But they told me I could get it unlocked with sofware or with a code and then it could be used with any carrier. I've been looking online to find out how to do it myself and I keep coming across a warning that, " if my iPhone requires a carrier unlock, not to use redsn0w ". Does my phone fall under this category or can I unlock this phone with redsn0w? Does " requires a carrier unlock " and " uneligible to be unlocked " mean the same thing.
